ACFA Scotland Athletics Championships 2010

Results from ACFA Scotland Athletics Championships 2010 for 2 Highlanders ACF Team:

C/Sgt Anna Bailey – Huntly  
100m – 3rd in Heat, 5th in Final.

High Jump – 4th with a height of 1.2m

Javelin – 2nd – this is the first year since C/Sgt Bailey has participated in sports that she hasn’t won the Javelin!

Cpl Nathan Smith – Fraserburgh  
Shot Put – he's not sure his exact placement but threw between 9.5 & 10m

Cpl Steven McKee – Fraserburgh  
Discus – 3rd

Javelin – 5th

DofE Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme Course

ACFC Scotland are holding a one day EAAS Course for any adult who is interested in Assessing DofE Expeditions.

The course is to be held at Glenrothes TA Centre, Fife on Saturday 18 September 2010, and run by Major Neil Dunn, bids are to be sent direct to him by 20 August 2010, cc'ing the Assistant DofE Officer at the same time.

Pre requisition for the course is Intro to DofE, or completion of the E-induction on line at http://www.dofetraining.org/induction/content.html

The calling letter will be sent out through BHQ, or can be found at the ACF and the award website

ACFA Scotland Athletic Championships

13 Cadets travelled to Grangemouth to take part in the Athletic Championships.  A tally of four medals made their way back North, two of them awarded to L/Cpl Joseph Kynoch of the Scots DG Detatchment for 2nd in Shot Putt and 2nd in the 100m. Joseph was 1st in the 100m heat the final being very close with the winner only beating Joseph by a fraction of a second. Cadet Ritchie Gaveyluk of Fraserburgh Detatchment won gold in the Javelin and was selected to compete in the national championships in Grantham. C/Sgt Anna Bailey of Huntly Detatchment came 2nd in the javelin competition, the first year since Anna started to compete she did not win the competition.

 

   

Cadet 150 Open Day

2nd Battalion The Highlanders are pleased to announce an Open Day to be held at Gordon Barracks, Aberdeen on Saturday 5 June 2010 to celebrate Cadet 150.

The open day will consist of static displays from the Ambulance Fire and Police who will be promoting road safety and the British Transport Police who will be talking about railway safety. There will also be displays from Royal Signals, 205 Field Hospital, RAF Police Dogs.
 
There will be stands showing the work of the ACF with Adventuress Training, First Aid Sports and Duke of Eddinburgh. Inverurie and Ellon detachments will put on a fieldcraft display in the stripwood and there will be a cadets drill team run by Cadet RSM Lee Ord.
 
The Drums and Pipes of the Gordon Veterans Association will also perform.
