Swimming Successes

As a result of the 4 cadets we took to the ACFA Scotland Swimming Championships on Saturday we have 1 cadet Sgt Anna Bailey of Huntly Detachment selected for the National Team (2nd time this year)
Breakdown of results of the 4 cadets are as follows:
Sgt Anna Bailey
Freestyle – 1st place – Gold Medal
Backstroke – 3rd place in Final
L/Cpl D Connolly
Freestyle 3rd place in heat, 6th place in Final.
Cdt Leanne Foley
Freestyle 7th place in heat
Cdt Connor Andrew
Freestyle 7th place in heat
All cadets involved did extremely well considering some cadets from other Btns are currently being trained for the London 2012 Olympics.
Thanks should also go to Ron & Carol Devlin who assisted in getting the cadets there and at the event.
Football and Cross Country Trials

Date: Saturday 10 October 2009
Location: Gordon Barracks, Aberdeen.
Start Time: 1000hrs
End Time: 1500hrs
It is hoped we can provide transport for outlying detachments & C Company.
Open to both male and female cadets between 12 and 18. Any cadet who turned 18 before 31st August 2009 can’t compete unfortunately.
Any cadet attending trials must be available for the Btn Team on weekend 23rd – 24th October.
Cadets interested to contact their detachment commander.

3 Star Cadre inspection

Officer Cadet Sam Simpson, an ex-cadet from Stonehaven, took charge of Wednesday morning’s parade under the watchful eye of Captain Dave Chapman, Adjutant of Aberdeen Universities Officer Training Corps. Officer Cadet Simpson then escorted Captain Chapman as he inspected the 3 Star Cadre.
After inspection it was back to work for them as their cadet colleagues in the 2 Star Cadre went on a fun day out to Wrexham swimming pool.
The beginning of camp

After a an early start and a long journey from the North East we arrived in Nescliff at around 6pm. It was then feeding time and bed allocation and rest for the night. Sunday morning started with the happy news that some of our Adult and Cadet colleagues were being rewarded for their hard work.
Adult Instructor Jim Stewart of the Mintlaw Detachment was awarded his Cadet Medal for 12 years service.
Sergeant Instructor Duncan McWhannell was promoted to Adult Under Officer while Sergeant Instructor James Jones becomes Staff Sergeant.
Cadet Corporal Louise McWilliam of the Royal Army Medical Corps detachment in Aberdeen City becomes Cadet Sergeant.
