BHQ - Detachment

Written by Capt G. Rae Thursday, 29 April 2010 08:15

As part of an exciting development in 2nd Battalion The Highlanders ACF, all detachments are to be issued with a laptop, printer and USB "dongle" internet connection.  It is hoped that this will ease the flow of information across the battalion and allow detachments to access useful resources, such as this website, Westminster and the National Army Cadet Force Website.

If there are any issues with these laptops, help can found in the first instance by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or by calling either Capt Rae or AUO Murphy.

If you are a serving CFAV with 2nd Battalion the Highlanders ACF, you can submit news and files by following the links at the right hand side of this page.

I have also added the feature that all CFAV can now post news to the Main battalion website, so if you have information that you want to share with cadets, you can do so. Just let me know so I can send you your password for the main site.

Please be aware that all news and files are moderated, so will not appear immediately.  An email is sent to me, so I should be able to approve news quite quickly.

Please contact me with any questions, or if you want training in this.

BHQ - Annual Camp 2010 - Strensall

Written by Capt G. Rae Monday, 15 March 2010 10:02

The draft Training Plan for Annual Camp 2010 - Strensall is now available to download, along with updated Standing Orders for North East Defense Training Estates, which include Strensall DTE.

The individual Standing Orders for Strensall that are relevant to our Battalion are numbers 1 - 6, 16 - 29 and 31 - 39.  The others pertain to other DTEs in the North East of England.  However, the Standing Orders require to be published as one collection of documents, which is why they are included. Standing Orders can be accessed here: DTE North East Standing Orders

The training plan comes in two sizes, one containing the complete NE DTE, which can be downloaded here: icon Camp 2010 Training Plan 11 Mar 2010 (33.18 MB 2010-03-11 18:09:22).

The other version does not contain NE DTE and can be downloaded here. icon Camp 2010 Training Plan 11 Mar 2010 Without SDTE SO (611.35 kB 2010-03-15 09:08:59)  This will be useful if you have a slow or awkward internet connection.

Please note that the training plan is currently in draft format and will be updated once every 2-3 weeks in the run up to camp.  If you have any comments, changes or requests to make, please contact the Camp Planning Officer, Captain Rae.

Website - Website updates

Written by Capt G. Rae Monday, 11 January 2010 09:16

A new feature has been added to the Battalion AI website.  This feature, called Live Help, enables users to either enter an on-line chat with a website manager, or if no managers are online, to send a message.

It is hoped that this feature will improve communications and allow CFAV to contact someone for assistance during parade nights.

To access the Live Help feature, look for one of these images:

If you see this image, no website managers are currently online, but you can leave a message.
If you see this image, then a website manager is online and can be contacted for on-line support.
