Who are we?

The Army Cadet Force is a Voluntary Youth Organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence.  The ACF is one of the most popular youth organisations with over 50,000 boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 training in detachments spread throughout the country.

The ACF is supported by over 8,000 instructors who are all volunteers.  The ACF is always looking for more instructors from all walks of life. If you are interested please look at the How to Join page.

There are a wide range of activities that the Army Cadet Force participates in ranging from Hillwalking to Target Shooting to competing for their Battalion in a swimming competition.

There is also the opportunity to attend leadership courses in Canada.  Last year a groups of cadet from the Battalion visited the 1st Battalion The Highlanders in their base in Germany

During your cadet career you have the opportunity to achieve recognised awards and qualifications.  You can work towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award, BTEC Vocational Qualifications and many more.
